A car alarm is a high volume alarm that automatically goes off when the car is being entered illegally or tampered with in some way. There a two kinds of car alarms. OEM alarms are built into the car at the production stage at the factory. Aftermarket alarms are installed after the car has been built. Aftermarket car alarms are usually installed by the car dealer or the car owner. Car alarms can vary in price and features, but in any case it`s cheaper to buy a new car alarm than it is to buy a new car.

There are also remote car alarms. These types of alarms come with an array of sensors and motion sensors. They generally have a radio receiver, immobilizer, motion detector and wireless USB.

There is only one downside to buying or having a car alarm. Because car alarms can be sensitive and are often triggered accidentally many people have become accustomed to ignoring the sound of car alarms. In response to this problem many makers now make a system that is silent and allows the car to be immobilized.
